In feng shui, a fish tank is believed to attract and hold wealth energy. But when cold air blows directly across the tank, that energy is thought to be scattered, making it harder for wealth and good fortune to stay in the home.

There's also a practical concern. Direct airflow from the AC can cause sudden changes in the water temperature. That can stress the fish, weaken their immune systems, cause them to stop eating, and even make them sick.
The best solution is to keep the fish tank at least five feet away from the air-conditioning vent. You can also place a room divider, shelf, or tall plant between them to block the direct airflow.
