Quick Feng Shui Guide
What to Know First
Choosing the right floor isn't just about whether the number sounds lucky. What matters more is how comfortable you feel living there.
If you care about natural light, ventilation, and the view, mid-to-high floors often have an advantage. Floors 8 through 20, for example, usually get plenty of sunlight, offer better views, and tend to have less street noise. They can be a good choice for families who value a quieter, more comfortable living environment.
Best moves
From a traditional feng shui perspective, some people also choose a floor based on their birth date and the Five Elements, hoping to pick a number that feels more personally favorable. You can take this as a cultural tradition, but there's no need to be overly concerned about it.
More Feng Shui Notes
If convenience is your priority, lower floors can be more practical. Floors 1 through 6 are easier to access, especially if you have older family members or young children. Even if the elevator is being repaired, getting around is usually less of a hassle. However, lower floors may require more attention to humidity, natural light, and privacy.
What you really want to pay attention to are the practical details:
How many elevators does the building have? Is the water pressure reliable? Are there nearby roads, stores, or mechanical equipment that could create noise? And how well does the property management maintain the building?
At the end of the day, the best floor isn't necessarily the one everyone calls the "lucky floor." If it's convenient, quiet, comfortable, and makes you feel at home, that's the floor that's right for you.
