In traditional folk belief, there is a saying: “When a spider comes, the God of Wealth comes.” In Chinese folklore, spiders are sometimes called “happy little ones”, and the word is associated with joy, contentment, and good news arriving.
If a spider drops down from above on its silk thread, it is seen as especially lucky. People call this “happiness falling from the sky,” which suggests that money luck or good news may be coming soon.
Seeing a spider in the morning is considered even more auspicious, meaning the day may go smoothly.
That said, it depends on the situation. A small number of spiders near the door or on ceiling beams is usually seen as a good sign, suggesting happy events may be coming. But if there are many spider webs in the home and they are left uncleaned for a long time, that usually means poor airflow, weak lighting, and bad hygiene. In feng shui terms, it can suggest that the home’s energy is declining.
So if you see one or two spiders, there is no need to panic, and it is better not to kill them. You can gently cover the spider with a cup and release it outside the window.
